Auchterarder Parish Church, Perthshire, taken in 2009.
Ann Davidson was born about July 31, 1827 (the date of her baptism) in the parish of Auchterarder, Perthshire. Ann was the third of ten children born to Catherine Eadie and Andrew Davidson.
On July 7, 1848, Ann married Peter Donald (week
#36) in Auchterarder. They had two children together: James Donald (week #6), my 2nd great-grandfather, and Cathrine Donald, who likely died in childhood as she does not appear in any further records beyond the 1851 census when she was two years
It also seems that Peter died in his twenties as he too only appears in the 1851 census at the age of 24; I have not located a record of his death, however Ann Davidson and John Miller, both 27 years of age, were married May 1, 1855 in Auchterarder,
Perthshire; he was a bachelor, she a widow.
Ann is found in the Scotland census records for 1851, 1861 and 1871 as follows:
1851 Census - Ann Donald (23) born abt 1828 in Auchterarder, Perthshire, parish of Rattray. Living at 37 Rattray with
husband Peter (24). Also children: Catherine (2) and James (8 mos.) and boarder, likely Ann's brother, William Davidson (25).
1861 Census: John Miller (33), Anne Miller (33), dressmaker, living at address: Shave Two No 5 Schedules In A Mis Lake
in Auchterarder, Perthshire with children: James Donald (10), John Miller (5) and Isabella (6 mos).
1871 Census: John Miller (43) and Ann Miller (43), dressmaker, living off Main St., Auchterarder, Perthshire with children: John (15), Isabella (10),
Andrew George (7) and Anne (2)
The Death Certificate of Ann Davidson Donald Miller (age 52) indicates she died Dec 17, 1879 of stomach cancer at 30 Ruttenvale Terrace Auchterarder, Perthshire Scotland, wife of John Miller, present. Parents
were Andrew Davidson and Catherine Eadie - both deceased.
